Remembering the Legend-Mukesh

22 July 1923. A child was born in Zorawar Chand Mathur’s family. No one had predicted that the boy would go on to become a legend and his legacy would continue for generations.

The child was none other than Mukesh, the legendary singer. Along with Rafi,Kishore and Manna Dey, Mukesh had set up the stage for the Golden era of Indian cinema and music.

Mukesh was noticed more for lending his voice to Raj Kapoor rather than his own singing talent. On his 79th birth Anniversary,I salute this great singer for hi achievements and contributions in Indian Cinema.

A collection of his award winning Songs

This song from ‘Rajnigandha‘ got him the only National Award for him.

This song got him his first Filmfare Award. The lyrics moulded in Mukesh’s voice gets you close to the crude reality of this material world.

This song from film ‘Pehchaan’ starring Manoj Kumar, is one of my personal favourite songs. Beautifully written by Varma Malik, the song has its own taste of innocence of the character and describes hi nature.

The song for which Mukesh will be remembered forever. His style of pronouncing simple words in a soothing way was the characteristic feature of his singing style.

Apart from these songs, Mukesh’s duets with Lata Mangeshkar and Suman Kalyanpur are praised and loved by one and all.

Mukesh still remain in the hearts of  young and old. His sensational voice will keep attracting and Inspiring generations of singers to come.
